Every year - in fact - from the 9th to the 17th of February, the City of Verona in collaboration with the Committee for Verona, organizes numerous romantic events to celebrate the week of love.
Between theatrical performances, concerts and cultural events, made for couples, families and art lovers, throughout the city we celebrate the love with the traditional "Verona in Love" event.
Illuminations of love will accompany you throughout the streets of the center, with the windows of all the shops specially decorated and pleasant music to play in the background.
Discovering Verona in Love
The pulsating hearts of the week of love are Piazza Brà, Piazza dei Signori and Cortile Mercato Vecchio.
In particular, in Piazza Brà (from Saturday 9th of February until Thursday 14th) it will be possible to live a unique experience, on board a hot air balloon that will take you and your partners over the beautiful Arena and the roofs of the square.
Piazza dei Signori is home to the impressive market, consisting of stalls arranged in the shape of a heart where you can find fantastic gift ideas for your partner and innovative creations for Valentine's Day.
The nearby Loggiato di Frà Giocondo is transformed into Loggiato in Love, a particular area where you can taste the delicious confectionery products and renowned wines typical of the Verona tradition and, in addition, buy unique antiques (certified "Juliet Love Signature") Concerning the "wall" of Giulietta: part of the proceeds will go to the "Villa Fantaelli" project by Abeo.
In the Cortile Mercato Vecchio, then, you will find The Message of the Heart, a bulletin board where you can leave a dedication or a message of love to your lover or, again, the Seal of Love, a typical parchment with a seal symbol of the love of couple.
Throughout the week of Verona in Love, you can admire the famous monuments of the Arena, the Gran Guardia and Palazzo Barbieri all lit up in red!
Moreover, during the Live in Love festival, there will be the traditional "Soffi d'Amore", a shower of heart-shaped confetti, under which couples of lovers can kiss for a minute!
For those who, instead, want to express all their love through letters, is given the opportunity to participate in the famous appointment "Dear Juliet", a competition at the end of which will be awarded prizes for the most beautiful love letters.
Museums for Verona in Love
There are also numerous cultural initiatives in the museums of the city of Verona. If paired, you enter - in fact - with just one ticket!
In particular, at the Gallery of Modern Art there is the exhibition "Maternal love: the origins of modern painting from Previati to Boccioni.
At the Museum di Castelvecchio, instead, you will find "The painting in Verona from 1570 to the plague of 1630" and the Archaeological Museum, inside the Roman Theater, "Beauty and care of the body in antiquity".
At the Museum of Natural History, there is also the exhibition "Amore e farfalle", inspired by the diary of the British traveler Margaret Fountaine.
Finally, on February 16th and 17th you will discover the secrets of the "Tomba di Giulietta" museum and read some of Shakespeare's most famous works.
